St. Regis Hotel Singapore

St. Regis Hotel Singapore

5 stars - review by

When it comes to St. Regis Singapore, there is no such thing as subtlety. The first indication of your almost “royal” stay is the chauffer of the customized Continental Flying Spur Bentley that awaits you at Changi Airport upon your arrival to transport you to the five-star hotel.

The first thing that you’ll lay eyes on after leaving the comforts of the Bentley (which is also equipped with wifi) is the huge chandelier at the entrance of the lobby, followed by all the brightly coloured plush sofas coupled with antique furniture. While some might revel in the luxurious vibe it exudes, others may actually find the interior of the lobby a tad too garish, but like they say, to each his own.

St. Regis Singapore is located along the affluent area of Tanglin Road, which is a stones throw away from the shopping area of Orchard Road. Its location makes it ideal for its guests, as it is away from all the noises of the shopping belt but yet still accessible by foot – which would be a 15 to 20 minutes walk.

The downside of the location is that the hotel is not located very near a train station, which would mean you’d either have to walk (approximately 15 minutes) or take the public transport to get to the nearest station, which is Orchard MRT. However, one of the perks of staying in such a luxurious hotel is that you can travel in style in the hotel’s Bentley by simply requesting for the service at the concierge.

Rooms & Amenities

If the lobby is not enough of an indication of St. Regis Singapore’s concept of luxury, the rooms are sure to drive the point home. The fairly large and spacious rooms (beginning at 50 square meters) are fitted with large and comfortable sofas and beds upholstered in designer materials, which are made to be the focal point in the room through the play of bright colours.

Further exuding the grandeur of the rooms are the fully French marble bathrooms, which are equipped with an equally expensive looking bathtub, and not your usual run-of-mill white hotel tubs. You can even relax in the tub and tune in to your favourite channels on the flat-screen television in the bathroom.

All guests staying at the hotel are entitled to the 24-hour butler service – which means, you don’t even have to pack and unpack, nor iron your clothes or make your tea because there will be someone to do it for you at any time of the day.

Instead of the usual dip in the pool or workout at the gym – which are also available at St. Regis Singapore – guests at this hotel can spend their time appreciating fine art in the comforts of their hotel at the Signature Art Collection showcase. The showcase is home to over 70 different paintings, prints and sculptures, which includes works from internationally known artistes such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, amongst many others.

Bars & Restaurants

When it comes to dining, St. Regis Singapore sure does ensure that their guests get to choose from a variety of cuisines, ranging from French cuisines to Chinese cuisines. The hotel has also set an elegant vibe to its two bars – a cocktail bar and a wine bar – where guests can sip on the most exquisite alcoholic beverages and wine from their wide international selection. But do bear in mind that dining at almost all the bars and restaurants in St. Regis Singapore would require you to be dressed in smart-casual attires.

In review

If you want your hotel stay to be one, which is pampered, personal and completely luxurious, then St. Regis would definitely be the hotel of choice. However, do remember that for such extravagance, you must be prepared to fork out at least S$900 (US$733) per night for the most basic room category.
