A familiar hotel brand to frequent travelers, Holiday Inn´s iconic green and white logo can be found in a few areas in Singapore – Clarke Quay, Outram and of course on Singapore’s most famous street: Orchard Road.
Despite its location within the Orchard City Centre, this Holiday Inn is located at the end of the Orchard Road strip, which means it will be a 15 to 20 minutes walk to the heart of the shopping district. There is always the train, but be prepared to walk five minutes to either Somerset or Dhoby Ghaut station. But well, considering the price that Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre offers the slightly longer walks will be well worth it.
Besides, the walks would allow you to absorb and explore more of the sights and sounds of Singapore, from the prestigious Istana (presidential palace) located nearby the hotel to the brightly lit adult shops and completely legit massage parlours along the end of Orchard Road.
Room and Amenities
Rooms at the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre are remarkably spacious. There is no point in paying over USD200, only to end up in a shoebox sized bedroom with barely any extra space for all that shopping you just did. Over at this hotel, the double bedroom is spacious enough to accommodate two adults and two children. This extra space translates to savings for those travelling in a group of three adults or with two children, as you’ll just have to top up for an extra bed rather than fork out cash for another room.
For a four-star hotel, the room amenities offered by Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre are quite stellar. You can choose to cozy up in the hotel bathrobe and relax on either the comfortable bed with fluffy pillows or recline on the sofa in the room and tune in to the available cable channels on the flat screen television. If that is not enough to make yourself feel at home, top it off with a nice cup of complimentary tea or coffee, or if you are willing to splurge, then enjoy the minibar’s offerings.
With its dim warm lightings and living vertical wall gardens fully covered with green plants, the rooftop swimming pool transforms into a romantic and almost magical setting at sunset. Ideal to escape the hustle and bustle of the heart of Orchard Road. Alternatively, you can ease the day’s tension away by slipping into the hot tub and letting the warm bubbling water prepare you for a peaceful night’s sleep.
Bars & Restaurants
Tandoor North Indian Restaurant, which is one of the two hotel’s restaurant aptly designed with Indian styled decor, offers guests a selection of tandooris, curries and freshly made flatbread, amongst other Indian goodies. If you are not one for spices, then Window on the Park Restaurant would be ideal for you, with its buffet spread of Asian and International cuisines.
Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre provies excellent value, considering its location and the quality of room offered. The slight setback for some may be the bit of distance to train stations, but hey, when you are travelling, a little bit of walking is to be expected.
